two years and still “yesterday”… a visit in Barcelona

Let me introduce you to Nina Voulis…

Nina and I met four years ago when we both started playing around with photography on flickr. Since then we’ve been sharing stories and anecdotes online, through a few letters and postcards and in person now and then, either in Belgium and in Barcelona. This time she was spending a few days in a friend’s house an hour from Barcelona and came over the weekend to visit me. We hadn’t met in two years. TWO YEARS!

(she loves Gaudi, so Park Güell was an obligatory visit)

At the end of the first day here, when we were going home to make dinner I said it was unbelievable that we hadn’t seen each other in two years… it really felt like if it was yesterday when we were waving goodbye in Brussels’ airport back in July 2009. Since then our lives are completely different. Since then we are different people. Since then our futures are not the same futures we were planning by that time. Many things happened, we didn’t have much time to share online, we both were busy focusing on “non-online” life and shared a few stories and kept connected through some emails and skype calls. And yet.. we had so many things to talk about, so many stories to tell, getting lost with time references (“was it then your Morocco and Taiwan year?”… “that was when my last year in University” ….) and feeling like it was yesterday when a Nina and an Emma that don’t exist anymore where saying goodbye to each other…

(best way to end a visit: in a terrace… pity it’s starting to get chilly)

I wonder when will be the next time we meet… and where…. anyway… it will be like “tomorrow”

About Emma Espejo

Graduated from English Philology in the University of Barcelona, I wanted to study a phd on Literature but ended dedicating my life to Photography. Full time teacher of English, and full time photographer (a passion can't be neglected). Working on my photography and making other people happy with my photographs makes me happy, as well as a good conversation, reading a good book and watching a good tv series. I'm a reader, dreamer, lover, photographer, writer, thinker... a little bit of everything.
